Why did Lalo hate Gus?
In "Better Call Saul," Lalo Salamanca has a complicated relationship with Gus Fring. Lalo and Gus are both high-ranking Salamanca drug cartel members, but they have very different personalities and leadership styles. Lalo appears to have a good working relationship with Gus at first, but tensions rise when Lalo becomes suspicious of Gus' motives and actions. Gus, according to Lalo, is secretly plotting against the Salamancas and collaborating with the Mexican cartel to take over their territory. Furthermore, Lalo is enraged by the fact that Gus was involved in a scheme to have Lalo falsely arrested and imprisoned. Gus, according to Lalo, did this to eliminate him as a threat and seize control of the Salamanca drug operation. Ultimately, Lalo's hatred for Gus comes from a combination of suspicion, jealousy, and a desire for revenge.
