Why did Walter kill Gale?

Walter White killed Gale Boetticher in the television series "Breaking Bad" because he believed it was the only way to ensure his survival and protect his methamphetamine empire.

In Season 3, Walter and his partner Jesse Pinkman were working for Gus Fring, a drug kingpin who had a thriving meth business. However, Gus became concerned about Walter's instability and began grooming Gale as a potential replacement.

Walter knew that if he was replaced, his life would be in danger. So, he plotted to kill Gale before he could take over his role as the chief meth cook. In the Season 3 finale, Walter shot and killed Gale in his apartment, thereby ensuring his continued employment with Gus and his safety from Gus' wrath.

Overall, Walter's decision to kill Gale was a pivotal moment in his transformation from a meek high school chemistry teacher to a ruthless drug lord. It marked a turning point in the series and set the stage for the escalating violence and mayhem that would follow.
